Intro to Health Informatics

Course description

In this course, students are introduced to the field of Health Informatics (HI) and provided with a foundational framework for key concepts that will be explored throughout the program. Students explore various health informatics topics, including essential information systems, data collection, data storage and retrieval, as well as data information, and knowledge management. They also examine decision-support systems and consider ethical and legal issues. Additionally, students examine the diverse applications of health informatics in consumer health, public health, and clinical settings

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
