Course description

In Health Information Technology, students are introduced to the key concepts, systems, and technologies utilized in healthcare environments. They explore a range of technologies, from Electronic Health Records (EHR) to telemedicine, and examine how these tools streamline patient care, improve operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. Students review the technologies used in primary care, long-term care, community care, and homecare settings, focusing on the interactions between health practitioners and patients with patient data. Additionally, students investigate emerging areas of Health Information Technology (HIT), such as mobile health applications and artificial intelligence applications

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
