Georgian’s Student-led Dental Hygiene Clinic is supervised by Registered Dental Hygienists. We provide complete dental hygiene treatment for all ages that is planned to meet your individual oral health needs. We’re a teaching clinic, and our main purpose is to provide an environment for our students to develop the clinical skills and professional behaviours required in their future roles as dental hygienists, while providing ethical oral health care to the community.
There is a significant time commitment required for students to have the opportunity for instruction and evaluation. Each appointment is 2 ½ to three hours long, and you’ll require a series of approximately four to six appointments. This may vary depending on the complexity of your case. Students need time to develop their clinical skills. Missed appointments and last-minute cancellations affect the success of our students. Therefore, we ask that you make the commitment of time and patience.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
As a teaching clinic, the services we offer support the learning outcomes of our Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting and Denturism students.
Therefore, we offer:
- a full range of dental hygiene services
- limited restorative services (very basic fillings only)
- fabrication, repair and reline of full and partial dentures
Our clinic is open to all individuals regardless of income or home address.
If you can provide a suitable learning opportunity for one of our students, we welcome you as a client!
If your case is too complex for our students due to medical or dental issues, you may be advised to seek care with a more appropriate health care provider.
A consultation with your medical care provider may be required.
According to the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario standards of practice and Ontario health regulations, comprehensive assessment and appropriate documentation are required, prior to providing any dental hygiene services.
All assessments and documentation completed in our clinics are confirmed by Registered Dental Hygienists to ensure compliance with these provincial regulations and professional standards.
As each student requires time for instruction and evaluation, each dental hygiene appointment is two-and-a-half to three hours in length and adult clients require more than one appointment to have all care completed.
Care is completed in stages and each stage is checked by clinic faculty.
This time commitment can vary significantly based on individual client and student needs.
To be eligible for restorative services, you must be a current client with a Dental Hygiene or Dental Assisting student.
Clients are referred to the restorative clinic either through our Dental Hygiene clinic or Dental Assisting intraoral clinic.
We are equipped to offer very basic fillings only on a limited basis and fabrication, repair and reline of complete and partial dentures.
If you need more than three fillings, large fillings involving several surfaces of your teeth, extractions, root canal treatment or any other extensive dental care, you will be required to seek treatment outside of our clinic.
We can provide you with a copy of any X-rays that we have on file, and information about other programs available in the community to assist you in completing your care.
We do not offer any emergency care.
If you are experiencing pain or swelling, you are urged to contact a dentist or go to the hospital emergency department.
Yes, our clinic is open to all ages.
Although we do ask that you commit to the three-hour appointments (usually one to two appointments for children up to 12 years of age), we are sensitive to a child’s tolerance for long appointments so may shorten the appointment as required.
We make every effort to provide a positive experience.
The main purpose of the teaching clinics is to provide an authentic learning environment for our students.
A request can be made for a specific student and accommodation will be allowed if the request follows the guidelines of professional practice.
If you have a cough, fever and/or other signs of infection, please contact the clinic to reschedule your appointment.
