Georgian announces new Executive Director, Student Success

Georgian College has selected Megan Fenton as the new Executive Director, Student Success and will officially start the role on Oct. 7.
Megan, currently the Director of Student Success at Georgian College, brings 20 years of experience across academic and student success roles. As Director of Student Success, Megan oversees student transition services, housing, advising, mentorship, sexual violence and consent education, and the Navigate360 strategy.
Over the last year, Megan has served as an AshokaU Change Lead, launching a neighbourhood impact project to improve student housing education, and redefining orientation to prioritize belonging and social connectedness. She also co-led the launch of the Big Idea Challenge 2.0, which supports 2SLGBTQIA+ and Black student socials, student fairs, and academic events. As co-chair of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Committee, Megan drives collaboration on these initiatives and represents Georgian on affordable housing and the City of Barrie’s Town and Gown committees.
As Associate Dean of Human Services and Community Safety, Megan led 12 programs across five campuses, expanding two programs at the Orangeville Campus, launching the Honours Bachelor of Counselling Psychology degree, and introducing an outdoor pedagogy initiative. She also improved field placement processes and supported the development of the college’s Truth and Reconciliation trail at the Orillia Campus. This team effort earned the Board of Governors’ Awards of Distinction Team Award in 2022.
Megan holds a Master of Arts in Educational Studies and Organizational Leadership from Athabasca University, a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from Georgian, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph.
