Georgian College unveiled plans on Thursday to expand its Centre for Skilled Trades at the Barrie Campus – transforming the existing space to help sustain and grow the highly skilled trades workforce this region needs for a strong, sustainable and green future.

Female student athletes will soon have a new varsity sport to play at Georgian College. An official OCAA rugby sevens season will begin September 2026.

Here’s a look back at some of our favourite good news stories from throughout 2024.

For the 20th year, Georgian culinary students cooked and packaged 300 turkey meals for people living in local shelters.

All seven of Georgian’s campuses (including the downtown Barrie location) will close for the 2024 holiday season at the end of the business day on Monday, Dec. 23 and re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

The awards, handed out by the City of Barrie on Nov. 29, recognize the most innovative businesses, individuals and community groups in the city.
