Course description
Students are introduced to a comprehensive collection of interior materials, finishes, furnishings and textiles used in the interior decorating industry. Through hands-on use of the collection, students explore and discuss the physical properties, practical applications and aesthetic characteristics of various materials, finishes, furnishings and textiles using industry specific language and terminology. Guest speakers emphasize appropriate applications, the manufacturing, sourcing and installation methods of materials and finishes within the context of health, safety and sustainability. Group and individual assignments involve research, product analysis, presentations and applications
