Provincial Statutes

Course description

Students examine Ontario provincial statutes in relation to common provincial offences, police, and civilian powers and other lawful authorities. Through discussions and case-based scenarios, students develop an understanding of the Provincial Offences Act, court and appeals process, legal responsibilities and the delivery of clear, accurate, and professional testimony. In a mock courtroom setting, students demonstrate courtroom decorum, evidence presentation, and the application of correct legislation in a professional and accountable manner

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
