Course description

Students develop foundational medical terminology used in healthcare communication and documentation. Emphasis is placed on accurate interpretation and application of medical vocabulary in the preparation of professional medical correspondence. Students build skills in spelling, pronunciation, and abbreviation use, and apply terminology within basic healthcare contexts. Students are also introduced to common healthcare roles and the use of reference resources to verify and apply medical terms appropriately

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
