Course description
Students examine clinical competencies that guide effective counselling practices commonly used with individuals with mental health challenges. Core skills for engaging, collaborating with and guiding clients towards enhanced therapeutic outcomes are applied. Intentional communication skills necessary for working in diverse and challenging contexts are applied, and evidence-based intervention options are examined. Through exploring ethical and legal considerations, students apply principles that guide mental health practice in a variety of contexts.
