Course description

This course builds on foundational medical terminology and introduces the structure and function of major human body systems within a healthcare context. Students develop the ability to interpret and use medical language related to anatomy, physiology, and common disease processes. Emphasis is placed on understanding how body systems function to maintain homeostasis and how disruptions relate to clinical conditions. Students also examine common diagnostic tests and procedures, with a focus on their purpose and relevance in healthcare settings. This course prepares students to apply anatomical and physiological knowledge to support communication, documentation, and coordination of care within health services environments

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
